· Paraphrase
of Thompson’s commentary.
o Personal observations of
how this applies to the Christian woman today.
1 Kings 17: 7-16
- The
Christian woman will not be surprised when she finds herself with an
opportunity to serve others in a specific place at a specific time.
She will simply do what is needed all for the glory of God.
o In our
service to others, us women don’t need to be obsessing about how we can be
serving others; we simply need to keep our eyes open for the opportunities to
present themselves, and then our focus should be to serve in a way that brings
glory to God only. And while we may be praised for our efforts, our
reaction and/or response should always bring glory back to God.
Luke 21: 1-4
- The
Christian woman does not boast of her success nor does she groan of her
failures. She simply lives one day at a time in the joy of the LORD.
o In our
service to others, us women need to be content in whatever circumstances we
find ourselve in, and believe that God can use us anywhere, anytime; regardless
of what anyone else expects.
2 Corinthians 8: 1-15
- The
Christian woman does not grow weary in doing good. Her passion to
serve remains fresh and alive in order to be fully used by God and thus
give Him all the glory.
o In our
servie to others, we need to be energetic and ready when we see a need, to be
available to help meet that need, so that others may be blessed by God.
