Advocacy is a major
avenue through which the emancipation of woman can be evidenced, through
service to anyone in need, be they children, weak women or frightened old men.
CROSS-REFERENCES TO MATTHEW 26:6-16
According to Thompson’s
Chain Reference
· Paraphrase
of Thompson’s commentary.
o Personal observations of
how this applies to the Christian woman today.
Matthew 19:13-15
- The
Christian woman makes every effort to be soft-tempered so that no child
will be afraid to approach her.
o In our
service to others, us women cannot allow the deception of the enemy to lure us
away from our God, or tempt us to separate His children from Him.
Luke 7:36-50
- The
Christian woman does not allow herself to be intimidated by the successful
Christian who can stand on their own two feet. Instead, she will
seek out the struggling Christian who needs a shoulder to cry on.
- In
our service to others, us women may find ourselves within the heart of
other poverty stricken communities… in waiting areas of the public
assistance buildings for example… We will do well to remember that there
is always someone worse off than we are.
Luke 13:10-17
- The
Christian woman is available at a moment’s notice to further the kingdom
of God in any capacity that He chooses. She places priority on that
over any work that contributes to this world.
o In our
service to others, us women should live our lives with dignity while we
raise our children, handle our money and make life decisions, as they are
our own business, and anyone who doesn’t like it has no room in our home.
John 8:1-11
- The
Christian woman is tolerant. She recognizes that as humans, we all
make mistakes. She does not allow her status as a Christian to give
her cause to discriminate against another believer simply because they
made a mistake.
o In our
service to others, us women must be aware that this is yet another difficult
area for us. When we see someone going against what the Word of God says,
we must resist being filled with anger. First, we need to stop and bring
the matter before the Lord to avoid casting judgment prematurely.
John 18: 1-11
- The
Christian woman is quick to accept responsibility for her actions,
regardless of the consequences, and protects all who may be involved.
o In our
service to others, us women must not get caught up in the blame-game. We
must be accountable for our own reputation, and protect the dignity of others
by not pointing fingers.
